January 2021 security update released for Huawei Nova 5 Pro, Nova 4e and Mate 20 X 5G

From November, Huawei is testing the latest EMUI 11 operating system for registered users of Mate 20 X 5G and Nova 5 Pro. Following the EMUI 11 plan, the company released a beta version that allows users to experience brand new custom OS features before the stable launch.

Recently, Huawei provided a stable EMUI 11 version for Mate 20 X 5G and Nova 5 Pro beta testers and EMUI 10.1 users and ended the beta version plan. However, currently, Chinese users can use the product and will soon expand to the global market.

According to the official global release schedule of EMUI 11, Mate 20 X 5G smartphone users will receive the major software update of EMUI 11 in the first quarter of 2021 (March).

In order to make further improvements, Huawei will continue to release regular security updates for its equipment. Now, the company has begun to release security updates for the following models in January 2021.

In addition, this update also improves system security by fixing different levels of vulnerabilities and issues and protects devices from threats.

January 2021 Security Patch Details: Installs security fixes for different levels of exploits and issues within Huawei phones including 4 critical, 1 medium, and 25 high levels of CVEs.

  • Huawei Nova 5 Pro users getting the EMUI 11.0 version 11.0.0.135/136 upgraded from 11.0.0.133/134.
  • Huawei Mate 20 X 5G users getting EMUI 11.0.0.136 upgraded from 11.0.0.130
  • Huawei Nova 4e users getting EMUI 10 version 10.0.0.167 upgraded from 10.0.0.166.

HOW TO UPDATE:

Download via Settings:

  • Open Settings
  • Click on the System & updates
  • Open Software update
  • Tap on Check for updates option
  • If an update is available, click on Download and install
  • After installation Reboot the device

Download via Support app:

  • Open the Support app on your device
  • Go to the Service tab
  • Click on the update button
  • Tap on Check for update option
  • If an update is available, click on Download and install
  • After installation Reboot the device
